Handmade Knit Scarves

I have been a busy busy bee knitting lately and thought I would share some of my recent scarves with all of you. Work has been closed most of this past week and I didn't feel like playing video games so I watched a whole lot of Netflix and did a whole lot of knitting!!

If you love any of these you can visit my etsy store where they are listed. I also make custom requested items so if you see a pattern you love just shoot it on over to me and I can knit it for you :-)

Day 1 - Bay to Breakers 2012 Training

My new year's resolution is to run Bay to Breakers 2012. I don't just mean complete it, I mean run the entire way without walking. It is a 12k run, or about 7.5 miles, in San Francisco and people go all out for this event. Some people run it nude (not me) and some dress up in wild costumes and there are even floats! I plan on dressing up in something but nothing too wild, I want to be comfortable running and something outrageous might not be comfy enough. I might just make a tshirt that says " I play WoW, Can you Catch Me?" or something catchy that relates to my gaming (ideas are welcome here!).

I have never trained for a marathon before so this is going to be a new experience. After this morning, I'm a little bit shocked at just how little running I could actually do. I ran and walked for a total of 3 miles and ran for short bursts of about a quarter mile each because I really couldn't run any longer than that. I didn't think I was that out of shape since I've been doing my P90X2 videos and have been feeling pretty strong during those. So I'm a bit disheartened but hey, I have to start somewhere right?! Tomorrow is a new day and hopefully one where I can run for half a mile without getting too winded :-)

In other news, I have some new scarves up on Etsy and am still looking for my first sale! I will be posting a scarf and beanie package later this week once it is all finished so go check it all out <3 Here is the link SaraMarie Creations

And enjoy a few more Bay to Breaker photos that I grabbed off of Google!

Blizzcon 2011 Recap and Swag Bag Contents

In short, Blizzcon 2011 was AWESOME! Foo Fighters was the icing on the cake. Swag bag was a step up from last year (although no beta keys) and there were some great announcements for the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 Heart of the Swarm.

While walking over to the convention center to pick up our swag bags, we encountered some other Blizzcon attendees who had already gotten their swag bags. They got our hopes up by saying there were Diablo 3 Beta Keys inside, but really there weren't! The contents were quite similar to last year's only the statue is higher quality and looks very neat.

We got of course a Starcraft 2 portrait as well as Murkablo for World of Warcraft. Also included in the swag bag was a pack of trading cards, a new Battle.net authenticator, Mega Blocs Thrall figurine, and a sweet ass Tyrael statue!

New purple knit scarf!

Another scarf that I finished recently. This one was just straight knitting with size US 12 needles. I got the yarn from Michaels during the huge black friday sale and I love it! I have some extra so I might make another scarf just like this one :)

StumbleUpon Finds This Week!

I've come across some really great pages from using StumbleUpon and I thought I should start a semi consistent post since I'm pretty obsessed with Stumble haha! If you want to follow me on StumbleUpon, my public profile is located here and you can see all of my likes and interests, etc.! Also, don't forget to stop by this Friday to join the Stumble Me Friday hop!

Someone doesn't know how to use Photoshop and someone else does. Pretty hilarious! Photoshop Help!

Yarn Bombing - Guerilla Street Art. Very cool how talented some people are and how creative! Some of the designs are just astonishing and then you think how in the world did they put that on the tree?!

DIY Halloween Bottles - Of course I had to post this because I LOVE Halloween! This looks easy enough to make a project for children too. I am definitely going to be trying this when I get enough spare time (which lately seems like never!).

House of Tourquoise - I am just loving this bedroom. The green painted walls is perfect with the tourquoise room and bedding. Plus the bed looks oh-so-comfy!

The Long and Short Of It - One Sided Braid - I love Lauren Conrad, ever since Laguna Beach. I boycotted the Hills when LC left and Kristin joined. Definitely the end of that show right there. Anyway, she has some really awesome hair, makeup, clothing, etc. tips on this website and this post is a great twist on the traditional french braid. I've tried it and it looks very nice and is so easy and quick!

Blizzcon 2011 - Foo Fighters are Headlining! !!!

It was recently announced that the Foo Fighters will be playing at Blizzcon this year. Needless to say, I am thrilled! I've always been a fan of the Foo Fighters but have never gotten to see them in concert. Unless you count Dave Grohl playing as part of Tenacious D last year (which was awesome).

If you don't have tickets to blizzcon you can still watch it online or on tv if you order it here.
It's about $40 bucks to order it to watch and trust me, it's worth it! You get to see the tournaments, live raid, people watch, and still enjoy the comfort of your own home! I'm hoping to get some good videos and pictures this year that I will share here.

"Over the course of their 16-year career, the Foo Fighters have sold tens of millions of records, won half a dozen Grammy awards, and raised countless voices in singalongs of iconic anthems like "Everlong," "My Hero," "Learn to Fly", "All My Life," “Best of You,” and “The Pretender.”  Foo Fighters' BlizzCon debut marks founder Dave Grohl's triumphant return to the convention after playing drums for Tenacious D in last year's show, and comes during an international arena, stadium, and festival tour promoting their seventh album, the international #1 record Wasting Light.

Opening up the concert will be The Artist Formerly Known as Level 80 Elite Tauren Chieftain, who are returning to BlizzCon following a two-year interstellar tour through the Koprulu sector. Blizzard's in-house metal band will amp up the crowd with an earth-shaking set of both familiar and brand-new songs drawn from the Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo universes before turning the stage over to Foo Fighters for the main event.

“There's no better way to cap off two days of gaming entertainment than by blowing the roof off the convention center with an awesome rock concert," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “Everyone attending BlizzCon and watching from home can look forward to ending the show with a bang when Foo Fighters bring the house down.”

“We’re pretty sure that in the future, music historians will look back at BlizzCon 2011 as the unquestionable pinnacle of Foo Fighters’ long and illustrious career,” said Dave Grohl, Foo Fighters founder and frontman. “We look forward to living up to that prediction by bringing the Horde and Alliance together to rock the hell out of Anaheim next month.”"

If you want to read the entire press release, it is located here. :)

To hold you over here are some of my favorite songs and videos!

Party Planning Committee

This is the part where my Angela from The Office  comes out. I am officially one half of the party planning committee at my office! I don't have another half yet, but eventually there will be two of us planning potlucks and fun events at work. Needless to say, I am SO EXCITED! The only problem, I've never planned office gatherings for quite so many people! My first event is the Halloween potluck and costume party and I'm not entirely sure how many people will participate in the costume contest if I tried to plan one. I have been browsing the internet and have some across some great articles that have really helped me out...which I'll link below. But I also would absolutely LOVE any advice that my blogging buddies may have for the Halloween potluck and for any future potlucks that come up (we're planning for one potluck each month).

Human Resources - Halloween at Work - I love the idea of the costume contest and definitely want to try to do it, but I also really like the idea of having Trick Or Treating at work around 4pm so that employees can bring their children and have a safe environment for them to trick or treat. On a Friday afternoon that would be so fun, even though this year Halloween isn't on Friday.

That got me to thinking, what if we invited our clients and their employees and all of their children/grandchildren to our office for some trick or treating? Not only would that show that we really care about our clients, but the word would get out and we would potentially gain even more clients!

keiko lynn: Makeup Monday: Inspired by Adele

Stumbled Upon this blog today and absolutely love it! So many great makeup ideas and tutorials. Definitely good for someone like me who is a little bit challenged when it comes to make up!

keiko lynn: Makeup Monday: Inspired by Adele: As I was flipping through last month's Teen Vogue (yes, I'm a subscriber, even though I'm 26), I came across this stunning photo of Ade...

Deformed puppy, rescued from trash, learns to walk

Such a happy story about a cute little puppy! Definitely making me want to go out and rescue a dog but I'm not sure Chainsaw would be very happy about that haha!

Just a Quick Update

Hello all of my awesome blogging buddies! I am so very sorry for such a long lapse in posts but adjusting to working 40 hours, and starting a full load of online classes has made me so busy that by the time I get a free moment, I just want to sleep!

Anyway...here is a quick update and I promise to start updating more regularly now that I am getting into a daily routine.

The new job is AWESOME! I absolutely love my boss and my coworkers. At first it was surprising to be busy the entire 8 hours of the workday but now I am used to it and love every minute of it. It's such a huge change from the 6 hours of boring that was my previous job and it's probably the best decision I have made career-wise to get this new job. I finally have breathing room in my budget and am not worrying about how I'm going to pay for anything that comes up. I'm officially out of credit card debt :) Not that I was in it that deep but any credit card debt isn't good! Still have my student loans to pay off but those I'm not too worried about.

I started classes about a week ago. All are online courses and I have 12 units, which is going to make me very very busy. But like one of my favorite professors said "If you want something done, give it to a busy person" and it's true. I am getting more done in my days when I have an overwhelmingly amount of tasks to accomplish than when I had nothing to do and nothing to worry about. It's funny how that works out!

We have a new roommate, well two technically. Brittney moved in until she finds a place of her own (bad roommate situation previously) so she is bunking with George and Tiberius and they adopted a new little furry friend who is our other new roommate. His name is Indie and he is such a sweet little kitten. So mellow and cuddly! Chainsaw isn't so sure about him but he will warm up to him like he did with Tiberius. Personally, I love having 3 cats but Jeremy can think of other things he would rather have haha.

I think that is all there is to update for now. I will try to post some more later on in the week when I get some time between studying. <3 you all and thanks for bearing with me while I go through this great adventure!

Last Day!

Today is my last day at my old job and tomorrow I start full time at my new job. I am so excited to be taking this leap and pursuing my career further, but I am still sad to be leaving such a great company after 5 years of being with them. I've made some wonderful friends and learned so much! I haven't gotten emotional yet but come lunchtime I fully expect to become a water park. Here are just some thoughts I've had today :)

Things I am Thankful for and Will Miss:
Learning so much about architecture and construction.
Making such great friends. I will miss them dearly but luckily email and texting is around so I can keep in touch :)
Realizing what I want to do with my career. If it wasn't for my old job, I would have never gotten into marketing and learned how much fun I have doing it.
Learning so much about marketing and networking with other marketing women my age.
I will miss sitting by the window and people watching. The parking lot that I look out on is so interesting!
I will definitely miss the 30 minute drive only for the fact that I could listen to quite a bit of music in that time and sing at the top of my lungs haha. A 5 minute drive is only what, one song worth, maybe 2?! I hope my new coworkers won't mind if I belt out some pop songs occasionally.

Things I am Looking Forward to:
Learning even more about marketing and construction :)
Making new great friends, and keeping up with the old!
Furthering my career.
Finishing up my degree.
Networking with more people in the industry.
Making more money (of course!).
Being able to ride my bicycle to work when the weather is nice.
Going home for lunch so I don't eat out all the time :)
Working so close to home and downtown Sac so I won't have long to drive to go to marketing meetings and stuff.
Working in a busy office with a lot of people. I am pretty social, so working with only 4 other people can stiffle me sort of. It's not bad, and I've gotten used to it, I am pretty adaptable. And I love my coworkers here but I really love having a lot of people around.

Things I Won't Miss
The office politics, but I'm sure that there will be some at my new job that I will ignore at all costs!
Not having a boss in the office. It's so difficult not having any direction for a whole year! I'm looking forward to having someone to report to daily again.
Having to drive half an hour to work! I will save so much in gas!!
Working only 30 hours. I'm sure after a while I will wish I could work less but right now I am so ready to be an adult and work a full 40 hour week haha!
Having the worst chair to sit in. I swear, no matter how I sit, I always feel like I'm going to tip backwards because the back of the chair is broken ><
Being frozen! I sit right under the a/c vent and the property managers banned space heaters so I've been soooooo cold! The new office where I sit is literally the perfect temperature! I did cheat and had a space heater tho hehe!
The moths. Yep. There are moths in the old office that fly around and bug the crap out of me. So long bugs!
The bathrooms. I swear, everytime I go in the bathroom here, someone is either taking a giant poop or just left after taking a giant poop and it always STINKS! I can hold my breath for a good 2 minutes now. The faucets are broken too and the motion sensors don't work so it takes like 5 minutes to wash my hands with the dribble of water coming out.

Overall, I've had a great experience working in Sac and previously in Chico but it's time to take the next steps in my career and I am excited!

Starting a New Job - How to Make a Good First Impression

Today will be my first day at a new job. I am lucky and get to sort of transition into it and work part time this week, then start full time next week. Needless to say, I am very anxious! I was looking up how to make a good first impression on a first day of work and thought that I would share all of the things that I learned. It really put me at ease and I hope it helps any of you who are starting new jobs too!
Image from salary.com

1. Dress to impress. It is ok if you overdress. It is better to do that than be under dressed. On your first day you want to look professional. You can get an idea of the kind of style the office is after your first week or two but until you have a clear idea of what is considered appropriate and inappropriate, you should always dress conservatively, even more than what you think is conservative. On casual Friday you should still dress professionally. Do not wear flip flops ever! I know I know, I am guilty of wearing flip flops on Fridays as well but at a new job, which is hopefully better than what you had previously, you should invest in some nice flats for Friday.

2. Arrive early and stay late. Never ever be late during your first month at least! This is the time that you want to show that you are reliable, timely, and a lot better of an asset than Joe who shows up 15-30minutes late every morning. You cannot undo your first couple of months and this is the time that will shape the company opinion of you. After a year people will still remember those first couple of months and how you were either a great employee or an unreliable one. Studies have shown that this time is what coworkers remember after years and that is what will make or break you. Make sure you leave your house early and plan ahead for traffic, accidents, getting lost, and anything else that could make you late. Also, make sure you stay past your designated end time. Not hours late, but 10-15 minutes just to show that you are committed to this job and you will do what it takes to get your work done. Leaving right at 5 o'clock on the dot shows that you would rather be somewhere else than at work and is not a great way to show your boss that you are #1 employee.

3. Do not talk about your previous job unless asked about it, and even then be courteous and refer to it as positively as you can. Even if it was the job from hell, you do not want to talk badly about it. This sends a negative message to your coworkers and will increase the likelihood that they will not look upon you favorably. Also, if it does come up, do not dwell on it. Say your bit about how it was a great learning experience and then change the subject. This is a new start and you should be thinking about the future with the new company, not the past. I know for me, I am just so excited about this new job that it puts a shadow on what I've learned at my previous/current job. I've been so busy looking at the benefits of the new job that I forgot what was so great about my old job. Make sure you take the time to remember why you started working for the previous company in the first place and how much you learned and grew there. Positives!!

4. Do not engage in office politics or gossip. You are still getting to know people and you do not know who amongst your coworkers know someone higher up. It's good to get an idea of who is who among the office staff but do not contribute at all to the gossip. If people try to gossip to you, be as neutral as Canada. You do not want anything to come back to bite you in the ass. In a big firm, like the one I am new to, there are so many people that I won't be able to learn who everyone is and their "rankings" in the office hierarchy for months probably. Anyone could personally know the CEO or someone who has more decision making power than my boss and my job could truly be on the line by engaging in office politics. It's good to get a heads up about people who have certain personality traits that may clash with my personality so that I can make sure to do everything I can to work well with that person(s) but that's all I need. No bad mouthing coworkers to other coworkers. Save that for my cat since he can't tell anyone :)

5. Ask for and accept help! It is ok to have a thousand questions on your first day. Obviously you don't want to ask them all because many can be answered by just observing others around you. But for those questions that you really need an answer for do not be afraid to ask for help. People are going to be more than willing to help you out (most people at least) and it shows that you are not a know-it-all or a stuck up bee-otch. It also makes people feel good when others ask them for help as long as it isn't a consistent every single time you have a question type of thing :) Personally, I will be taking tons of notes so that I don't have to ask repeat questions. If for some reason I do have to ask a repeat question I'll be sure to ask someone different haha!

6. Learn how to do things differently. It's ok to keep some habits from your previous job but mostly you should pick up the new way of doing things at the new job. You don't want to come in and try to change all of the standards that have been set for years. This will make coworkers hate you because most people really despise change, especially changing their work habits. It's great if you have some ideas on how to improve certain things, and in that case, wait a couple of weeks or a couple of months and then bring it up to your manager. If you do that, make sure you bring out the good parts of how things are going on currently, and then bring up how they can be improved. Still don't say "at my old job we did XYZ". You aren't at your old job anymore Dorothy :) Things for me are going to change drastically. I think maybe a couple things I will be able to retain that I am in the habit of doing. For instance submitting timesheets on Friday, no problem there. But other things like email, software and many many other things will have to be relearned by me and I'm betting that since this new company is literally a thousand times bigger than my current company, that the way they do things is quite a bit better than how I know how to do things from my previous job.

7. Smile. This is probably the most important. You want to seem approachable and friendly. You also want to show that you are happy to be at your new job and are excited about being there. Coworkers will also like you more if you seem happy and it will be contagious. I was told once that I brightened up the entire office just by having a great attitude and being happy all the time. It was a great compliment that I hope to get at this new company too!

It's Official I Have a New Job!!

It is official! I have a new job and I start on Monday next week! I can announce it now because I have gotten the official offer letter and have also giving my current job my two weeks notice. Long story short, I got an interview for a part time job that I was planning on adding to my current job. My dad knew someone at the company and called to ask if I could use him as a reference for my interview and he said they had a full time marketing/admin position opening up in their division and to have me contact him. So I did, and interviewed with him (I had no idea it was going to be an interview and I was totally unprepared) and I did well despite not being prepared and I was hired!

There are so many things going through my head right now. I am excited, nervous, sad, happy, and ready.

I am excited because I will have a full time job that pays very well and I needed that. Since the fees for school have gone up and still paying off student loans, plus rent and other bills, I have been struggling to keep up with it all so this new job will definitely relieve some of the financial stress that I’ve been experiencing. I'll finally be able to pay off my credit card in full each month, I'll be able to save a buttload for retirement and so that I can take fun vacations (like Blizzcon and Disneyland) and I'll be able to throw the lavish parties I've always wanted to have

I’m nervous because what if I’m not what the new company is actually looking for and after working there for a month or so they decide they don’t want me anymore!? I’m my own worst critic and I want to be perfect at every job but every employer is different and is a different atmosphere so I’m nervous that I won’t fit in or won’t be as happy there as I am at my current job. I'm nervous that I won't be good enough. I have the training and skills to do that job but I still worry that I won't be as good as I could be or as good as they think I am.

I am very sad to be leaving my current job. I’ve worked at the company for 5 years, 2 in the current office and 3 in a different office. All 5 years have been wonderful and I couldn’t have asked for a better company to work for. Unfortunately the company got hit pretty hard by the crap economy and just hasn’t recovered enough for me to work a full 40 hours and that’s part of why I’ve been struggling financially. Most everyone I’ve worked with at my current company has been so fun to work with and I will definitely miss them. So I'm sad to be leaving friends and to be leaving a great company.

I’m happy to be taking the next steps towards a marketing career. The new company is a global company and this could be the beginning of a long career in the marketing department. I love marketing and want to be the best I can be and at a company with 48,000 employees I can really learn a lot more than I can at a company with 65 employees. As grateful as I am for having had my current job and learning so much, I feel as though I need to make a change and learn even more with a larger company. It's sort of like how I knew that living in Chico would be fun but it was too small for me so I moved to Sacramento. And eventually I want to make the move from Sac to San Francisco. I have big dreams and with a smaller company it's more difficult to achieve those dreams of a successful marketing career.

This leads me to the ready part. I am ready to work 40 hour weeks, 50 hour weeks, even more than that. I am ready to dive head first into marketing and making this change will push me to complete my degree as quickly as possible. With the prospect of moving up the ranks in a larger company looming, I can’t afford to sit on my butt and take one class a semester or two. No, I need to take a full load of online courses and work my butt off to get my degree. And I’m ready to do that. I’m not playing video games every day anymore (I only play if I have nothing important to do) and I’m ready to spend my nights and weekends doing homework or work. I'm ready to be an adult. With some play time of course J

As much as I will miss my current company, I know all of the emails of the people I would like to keep in contact with and they are a short email or phone call away. I can’t express enough how appreciative I am of the last 5 years and will always think highly of this company. But it’s time for me to take the next step in expanding my career.

I will still be blogging all the time don’t worry J

How to replace the alternator in a 1996 328is BMW

4th of July weekend was supposed to fun filled with family time and lots of wakeboarding and great food. Unfortunately, on our way up to Lake Almanor we ran into some car problems. Turns out it was the alternator that decided it just wasn't going to work anymore. At first we didn't know what was going on until the car just completely died on us.

What does the alternator do?
The alternator is the part that keeps your battery charged. It works with the battery to keep the electronic components of your car working. Here is a great article about everything you need to know about alternators :)

What are the signs of a failing alternator?
If your alternator is failing you will initially start seeing your electronics go out. For example, as we were driving the radio started cutting out and then went out completely. After that, the cruise control went out, then the lights on the climate control panel, the ABS (antilock break) light came on signaling that the ABS was not functional, then the entire instrument panel with the spedometer and odometer went out. Finally the car will just shut off and you will be left with a powerless car. No interior lights, no headlights, nothing.

What to do if you are driving when the alternator starts failing?

The best thing you can do is pull over immediately and call either AAA or another agency to come tow you home. If that isn't an option (for us we don't have any towing covered by insurance) you can call a friend or relative to come jump start your car, let the battery charge for a good while and try to make it home on that charge. It's really bad to jump the car, drive it, jump it again, drive it, etc. That's what we did since we were about 30 minutes away from home and it is really really really bad for the batteries of both cars, but like I said, if you have no other choice then go for it.

How to replace the alternator:
In my 1996 328is BMW it was fairly simple. Generally alternators aren't in tough spots to get to so as long as you can find it this DIY should be somewhat helpful.
1996 BMW Alternator
First step is to remove the air box housing which is what Jeremy has his hand on in the picture above. He removed the two bolts that were holding it in place and then it easily just lifted out of the car.

1996 BMW Alternator
After removing the air box housing you should see the alternator in a fairly accessible spot.

1996 BMW Alternator

There were two large bolts holding the alternator in, one was easy to reach the other not so much.

1996 BMW Alternator
Remove the belt that is on the alternator and get one of the small socket wrenches in order to reach the bolt. See how Jeremy's hand is all awkward in the picture above? That's where the hard to reach bolt is located.

1996 BMW Alternator
Once the two bolts are off and you pull the alternator off, you will have to remove the electrical connections which you can see has been done above. There are two bolts holding the connections on and are very easy to remove.

1996 BMW Alternator
There was a butterfly inside the alternator along with some leaves and dirt. Those aren't why it died but it doesn't help the cause either :)

1996 BMW Alternator
Here is what the engine looks like with no alternator.

If you have the ability to get a replacement alternator from a mechanic or a BMW dealer I would suggest doing that but if it's the weekend and you have to go to Autozone, they should carry one that works in your car, even though it might not be the best quality. They do have a lifetime warranty on the alternator at Autozone so if they do sell you a crap part, it won't cost you anything to replace. We took the old alternator in and got $90 off (the copper cores are valuable).

1996 BMW Alternator
Here is the pretty new alternator ready to be put into my car. The tougher bolt doesn't work in this alternator because of the threading so Jeremy just improvised a little bit. To put it in there just do what you did to take it off, only in reverse (obviously). Jeremy stuck it back in there and it stayed without any bolts holding which was really nice so I didn't have to get my hands all grimey trying to hold it in there while he put the bolts back in.

Once we got everything back in place we had to jump the battery to get the car started and drove around for about an hour to let the alternator do it's job and juice up the battery a bit. After that drive there haven't been any problems with the battery or alternator. The blower on the other hand...I'll save that for a later post :)

6 Week Summer Marketing Class

I don't have much to write about today. I have a post coming about how to change the alternator in a car later on this week (definitely put a damper on my 4th of July weekend to say the least). And I still haven't figured out how to upload the videos from the retirement party (I think I need some specific software but I'm not sure) so instead of just not posting, I thought I would give my opinion on the online summer course I am taking as part of my AA in marketing.

To start things off:
This summer I enrolled in a Marketing class at one of the community colleges in the area. I'm planning on getting my AA in Marketing and then going on to get my bachelor's in Business with an emphasis in Marketing once I'm finished. In order for me to move towards my AA I needed to take some summer classes and unfortunately only was able to get into one (budget cuts created a terrible surge in students and not enough teachers/classes to fit the students in). Luckily one teacher was kind enough to add everyone on the waitlist and take on the extra work associated with adding 40 extra students to an already packed schedule of 120 students (that's crazy for a 6 week class!). We are currently in Week 5 now and there are things that I love and hate about taking a 6 week online course.

Things I love:
It is not difficult. A class that is only 6 weeks isn't filled with assignments and homework which is exactly what I wanted for a summer course, just not what I wanted for my brain.
It is a quick class that won't take up my entire summer and won't take up my days with studying.
The load is extremely light compared to regular term courses. I can get my quizzes and assignments completed in about 20 minutes (for all of them, not each).
It is easy to get an A if you just read the chapters which are very short. Maybe it's so easy for me because I am very interested in marketing, but I also don't find the information to be difficult to comprehend.
The teacher is quick on grading and giving feedback so I know about how much effort I need to put into the rest of the assignments and quizzes in order to get an A in the class.
It is so easy that I set the curve on quizzes and assigments.
It makes me remember why I dislike attending courses because at minimum, half of the class will be comprised of drunk, high, or just plain stupid individuals. At least with an online course I don't have to sit there listening (or smelling) those people. (I have a problem with people who don't put in the work and just think they can coast by with a C). This could also go under Things I hate :)
I can do all of this in my sweat pants, unshowered, no makeup, bare bones self. And I don't have to make anyone miserable sitting next to them telling them I'm sorry for not showering that day and that I forgot to put on deodorant (I kid, I don't really do that but you get the picture. I love doing all the work at home with my kitty on my lap snoozing away).

    Things I hate:
It is not difficult. I want to be challenged and have my brain hurt from thinking so hard. This class does not make me think. At all. I just open the book, do the quiz in the back (the answers are in the back of the book too) and then do the quiz online. Easy peasy.
It is difficult to retain the information that is assigned because the quizzes are verbatim from the quizzes at the end of each chapter in the book. Photographic memory would come in handy here.
It is difficult to respond to classmate discussion posts when it is clear that they have not read the chapters and do not understand what is being asked of them. It makes it very difficult for me to fulfill my assignment (we are required to each post a discussion about a specific topic in the book and to reply to one other classmate's discussion topic with an intelligent post. We get graded based on the content of our postings and responses).
The assignments and quizzes can be completed in about 20 minutes. I don't feel like I am really learning anything since everything we are tested and graded on is basically verbatim out of the textbook.

All in all, I can't say I am displeased with this course. Being a lower division class I can't really expect it to be challenging. Most people are taking it only to fulfill a requirement for their GED and I can understand those people not really exerting themselves to get the best grade possible. It also hasn't taken up much of my summer at all really. Once I get into more of the core marketing courses I am willing to bet that those students will be like me and will be very passionate about learning the material and getting good marks on assignments and quizzes/tests. So for one more week I will just have to endure an easy class and just be thankful that it wasn't a super packed 6 weeks with loads of assignments and homework to do. As much as I have complained about this course I really shouldn't be complaining at all. I am fortunate enough to be able to enroll in courses and at least I didn't get a teacher from hell. :)

      Awesome Posts of the Week!

There are some really great writers out there who have the most fascinating and entertaining blog posts, and there are those who have the super relate-able blog posts that really hit home, and those who just post about their everyday lives and honestly, I love every single post I read! I have some favorites for this week so while the hours tick slowly by at work you will have something to read :) Plus I know I love getting shout outs from people who read my blog and I love giving shout outs so people know that I love their blogs!

Most of these points are soooooooooooooooooooooo spot on! I also have a "friend" who really needs to read this entire list and ever item on it. Dishes & Wishes: Dear Friends

Short and sweet post about the huge and great events in NY that happened :) simply girly - a step in the right direction

I love this post because I also loathe Walmart. People have no cart etiquette and block the entire isle with their one cart or let their children scream at the top of their lungs the whole time. And then when you say "excuse me" implying you would like to get by in the isle, they just stare at you like they don't speak engrish. I could go on forever UGH! Ins and Outs - I hate Walmart

This tutorial is so awesome! After the 4th of July weekend I am so going to attempt this!!! ChicNSavvy Reviews - Blogging 101 - How to make a Scrolling Blog Roll

I have computer problems all the time. Jeremy said it's because I have a secret magnet in my brain (I think I'm just cursed) but I have lost all of the contents on my computer multiple times and now I do backups monthly (like the post I'm linking says, you should do it twice a week). I totally sympathize! Mrs. Marine and the Tiny Troops - Computers - Don't make my mistake

Say hello to the lucky chosen 3 for this week (and feel free to stop by and give them a little extra love):

Started as a way to document her journey to getting in shape, Let's Talk About Me is a blog sharing Sara's thoughts on everything from awesome posts she has read to her daily life to a Stumble Me Friday Blog Hop and much more. You'll never know what you might find next, but the fun in visiting is wanting to find out!

Carrie's description of her blog reads as "Carrie Actually is a purposefully nicheless personal blog about my quest for a rich and fulfilling life as I recover from young adult cancer." An amazingly talented writer, Carrie writes about anything and everything that interests her and is going on in her life and makes you immediately feel her friendly nature and knowledge on a wide range of topics.

Isabelle at Life Through My Eyes is a self-proclaimed quirky, random, sarcastic 25-year-old with a dry sense of humor that comes through in her posts about her life, her work, and everything in between. Stop by to find out what working, studying, traveling, baking or more is up next!

Now that you know about these 3 wonderful blogs, it's time for you to join in! Add your family-friendly link below and we'll see you back here every Friday! And don't forget, you can get the InLinkz code to share the link list on your blog, too.
